The SkyOS desktop has a clean and beautiful design to make your computer feel the way it should. Keep informed with a customisable widgets popup displaying today's weather, breaking news that alternates every hour, dynamic greetings and more. Customise when the popup shows and change what is displayed at different times of the day.
Customise your desktop to what makes you comfortable. Chose between different styles of docks such as taskbar, invisible, compact and customise their alignments.
Change your menu bar to what you like as well. Chose between standard, full, invisible or integrated menu bars.
Get productive with productivity mode. Create settings for different scenarios to control your desktop, dock and notifications. Get work done efficiently, finally read that book, work on your website or just be free from distractions.
Productivity allows you to restrict app use for different modes. If you're trying to work, block games or other apps to stay focused on your current task. Customise what applications are visible on your dock during different modes and what apps can send you notifications.
Keep watching movies or TV shows in other applications with the picture-in-picture miniplayer. Works for supported websites and applications such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime etc.
The music player displays while you're listening to music as a popup or as a notification. Play, pause, skip, or fast forward a song directly from the music player. The player appears as a notification and can be expanded or dismissed on hover and will disappear as a normal notification after 10 seconds.
Customise your lock screen with widgets such as calendar, news, weather, mail and more to see quick information as soon as you turn on your computer. Set your own custom background, or let SkyOS chose one for you, showcasing different high-quality photos of natural landmarks, cities, space and more.

Both apps showcase the light and dark modes that all apps have to offer, which can be changed depending on the time of day and personal preference, for all applications or specific ones. Also take a look at system notifications, designed to be unintrusive but informative. Here at Sky Enterprises, we want to create SkyOS to fill in the gap where other computer operating systems have failed. We believe that a great operating system must focus on these fundamental areas:
These six fundamentals must be well executed in an operating system to provide a great user experience. The OS must be fast, as well as powerful. It must look great and be easy to use, but the user should be able to tailor the design and functionality to suit their needs. They should be able to be productive at whatever they want to do, whether it's gaming, working, watching Netflix or just browsing the web. Finally, the operating system should be as secure as possible from viruses, malware and hacking while also being stable (not crashing on the user).
Most operating systems address these issues in some way, but they're starting to fall behind. Windows users often complain about the lack of customisation of the OS, while Linux and macOS users often complain about the lack of support for some applications. SkyOS wants to create an experience where the user doesn't need to worry about any of these features being missing from the system and instead can focus on doing whatever it is they need to do.
SkyOS is our dream, but due to the project's sheer size and complexity, completing it will be a challenge. We have a few other projects we need to release before we can start on SkyOS, so at the moment, it is only in early concept development. Check out our Roadmap for an idea about our company 'plan'.
